Course Outline:
Before coming: Study your Business Plan, learn our slide presentation, "12 Secrets Every Successful Gardener Must Know," and read required texts. Memorize 12 "Birthflowers®" and months. Become familiar with www.franchise.org
- Day 1 - Promotion and Sales are the single most important things you learn. Customer satisfaction, consistent quality at a reasonable price and standardization. Chamber of Commerce list. Software. Barter Rejections! Be neat and clean in everything. The most fun part. Make a presentation. Physical and Mental Therapy. Leave your card and check your sign. UFOC required disclosure.
- Day 2 - Draw a plan. Book based brand. Flyer. Amend the soil. Use a hose to outline. Foundation planting, parking lot, or meander. High school to Ph.D. Memorize sales tract. Know Proposal/ Contract.
- Day 3 - Pruning. When and How. Fertilize and Lime. Take soil test. Weeds are the hardest thing to deal with. Treflan 2X/yr. Chemical liability. Log Sheet. Tilling. Income, expenses, profit.
- Day 4 - Deadheading. Propagation. Annuals and Perennials. Plant and weed identification. Dangerous chemicals! Watering and irrigation. Repair soaker. Tools to keep behind the seat of your truck. Knots.
- Day 5 - Mulch and compost.
- Where to get it, what it is, and what it does. Disturb roots. Plant in groups of odd numbers. Berms and Curves. Plant in October. Don't plant too deep. End of free portion. Test. End of free portion. Decision time! $2,000 to continue.
- Day 6 - Begin priority and trade secret portion. Space plants properly. Sun and Shade. Background plants. Make sales calls. Proposal/contract form. Signs. Brochure. Two year guarantee. Maintenance. Book/Suncatchers. Community Service. Publicity. Give 20% more in mulch and pruning. Make slide presentation. Best way to learn is to teach. Sales reports and contact information. Monthly payments, annual royalty, and removal, etc., are all recommended and included in gross retail sales, but not required. Sharing information. Your territory + 20%. 4% Media buys. Supervise another licensee.
- Day 7 - Review and test, 80%. Make another presentation. License agreement and royalty payments. Client ownership. Liability insurance. Business License from county. Register name. Agreement.
